CASE STUDY // DEVICES

Bringing a multi-platform device fleet under Intune management

A manufacturing organisation used Microsoft Endpoint Manager to manage and secure its devices across five operating systems from a single place.

Engagement led by our founder, AH Gazi. Client name and identifying details are withheld for confidentiality; the diagram shows the general architecture, not the client's systems.

The challenge

Devices ran a mix of Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android. Without central management, applying policy, keeping patches current and distributing software meant handling each platform, and often each device, separately.

The objective

  • Manage every device platform from one console.
  • Enforce consistent security and configuration policy.
  • Automate patching and software distribution.

What was delivered

  • Central device-management platformMicrosoft Endpoint Manager (Intune) implemented as the central device-management platform.
  • Policy enforcementCentralised device management and policy enforcement.
  • Automated patchingAutomated patch management and software distribution.
  • Endpoint protectionEndpoint protection and threat-protection settings applied.
  • Five platformsSupport for Windows, Linux, macOS, Android and iOS devices.

Security considerations

Central management turns device security from a per-device task into policy: patch levels, protection settings and configuration are applied consistently, and devices that fall out of line can be identified from one place.

Result

OUTCOME 01

Devices across five platforms managed from a single console.

OUTCOME 02

Policy enforced centrally instead of device by device.

OUTCOME 03

Patching and software distribution automated.
